Growing Through The Pain

At one point or another, pain can be the impetuous for new growth. Emotional pain is in fact a motivator for change. Change is always good. Fear of failure inhibits change. The Serenity Prayer gives us a simple guideline  through pain………God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Acceptance of the painful things in life can be difficult and necessary for positive growth to happen. Serenity can be hard to find when you are in the midst of a painful situation. Peace and serenity can be obtained through prayer and meditation. Seek Yee the kingdom of recovery and the rest will follow. Courage to change is one of the most difficult aspects of recovery. Getting out of your harmful habit zone will be hard yet doable. The Serenity prayer is the beginning point. You must be willing to know that God has his hands on your journey towards recovery. God is in control when you cannot be. You must have a willingness to surrender all your hurts, habits and hang ups. Try this simple visualization……Place all your worries and concerns into a balloon. Slowly blow up the balloon with helium. Tie off the worry balloon nice and tight. Now release it into the world. Take a deep breathe. Feel all of the hurt and tension leave your body as you watch the balloon climb up into the sky. Let it go. Now feel the presence of your higher power next to you. You are at a point of total natural bliss. Any thoughts of self destructive behavior have disappeared in the worry balloon. You are learning to release the negative thought patterns. There is only room for positive thoughts and actions in your life. The pain you once felt is now but a distant memory. Welcome to the world of healthy recovery.
