Denial Is Not A River In Egypt

I cannot remember the countless times I was and still am in denial of my addiction. I have many addictions. Some are good and some are bad. I am addicted to Facebook, yarn, books, loud music, etc. etc. You get the picture but sometimes it is hard to see the addiction (picture). Addicts, in full blown addiction, are in denial. Yes, they might as well be in the Nile river in Egypt. No one likes to admit that they have a problem, let alone an addiction or multiple addictions. In program terms…..individuals can be “double” winners. How could this be true? Only if they are in recovery. If you are still using then you are abusing……thus you are a double loser. Herein lies the trouble.

You are focused on getting a fix on easy street. Life is not easy. It takes hard work and diligence to come out of addiction a double winner. Your continued success in recovery is dependent on your willingness to let go and let God show you the way. Eventually you learn to get out of Egypt and get into the promised land of RECOVERY. Recovery is achievable. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. As always remember denial is not a river in Egypt. Just remember what Dorie said from the movie Finding Nemo….”Just keep swimming” and stay away from the sharks called addictions.
