The Invitation

While taking a stroll around the block yesterday, I ran into a woman who asked if she could join me. I replied yes. We talked about many different subjects. She admired my cellphone holder and asked if I had one in black. I responded yes. Another cellphone holder will leave my house shortly. She talked to me about a class she has at a local church about breaking barriers. She invited me to attend the class on Saturday. I am all for learning about breaking life’s barriers. Life can have many barriers to success. One of the biggest barriers is fear of failure. Individuals in recovery can be afraid to try new things. Fear of failure is a reality that nobody wants to face. Little steps need to be taken in order to reach new goals. Anxiety might creep in if changes in life happen too fast. Begin your recovery journey with pen and paper in hand. Start writing your hopes, dreams, and visions down. Date each entry so that you can see how you have progressed in your journey. Writing can be very therapeutic. It helps you to discover the things that are troubling you. With this information, you can begin to take action in getting rid of your negative thoughts, words, or actions. Start writing a gratitude journal. What are you grateful for? Don’t worry about not having anything to write. Just keep it simple. Today I am thankful for being alive…..Gratitude takes time to take hold in your life. Think positive thoughts. The rest will come with time….One day at a time.
