The Journal

Pick up a journal that you can write down your thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams. The journal will help you on your journey through recovery. You can write down anything you want within the journal. You don’t have to share the contents of it with anyone. Use The Life Recovery Bible as a starting point. Pick out a bible verse that has meaning to you. Write the verse at the top of the journal page. Deconstruct the bible verse. Take each word and ask yourself……What do these words mean for my recovery? What words inspire you or give you strength in your journey? You might even like to sketch out your ideas within the journal. The journal allows you to discover the words that will bring you hope and not despair. Date each page so that you can remember when you wrote your inspirational words. Whenever you may feel like using, go back to those words that you wrote. Talk to your sponsor about how you are feeling. It does help to talk to someone in the program. Their words of wisdom will give you comfort when you feel like you are slipping. Do not be so harsh on yourself if you slip. Just pick yourself up an start your recovery process again. Start writing and soon you will discover that there are healthy alternatives to using. Begin today. Start writing down your thoughts and feelings. You will discover that you will start to live more positively.
