Living A Life Of Recovery During The Holidays

The holidays can be a difficult time for individuals who are in recovery. Office parties can be difficult. Most individuals in recovery avoid these situations entirely. Family gatherings are a whole different story unless you are estranged from your family. Your life does not end now that you are recovered. Your life truly is a wonderful life. No matter how much clean time is under your belt, you have been given a gift of a recovered life. The holidays can often bring stress and past memories up to the surface. It is during these times that you must remind yourself that “This too shall pass”. Past memories can be difficult to deal with if they caused you pain in the past. These memories play over and over in your head like a broken record. This year make every effort to concentrate on the present. The present is a new beginning for you. You cannot return it like an unwanted gift. However you chose to live today…….Live it well. Live your life the best you can be. Appreciate all you have. No matter what your life has great potential. Embrace your time, talents and treasures this holiday season.
