Dealing With Rejection

There may be times in your recovery that you may have to deal with rejection. Don’t take this too personally. Lack of trust may be the cause of the rejection. Loved ones are afraid of you slipping back into your old ways. At this point, you must concentrate on your recovery. Ask yourself this question…..Who am I recovering for? The answer must always be….YOU!!! Yes, you are the most important person worth recovering for. When you choose to recover for someone else, you are setting up yourself for failure. Your expectations are set too high. This then leads to failure and finally relapse. There is hope. Keep going to your 12 step meetings or your Celebrate Recovery Group. Hopefully you will never find rejection in these meetings. May the peace and understand of a recovered life follow you each and every day.
