Reflections On Being Broken

I have been broken in so many ways over the past soon to be fifty years. Gasp!!! I said it BROKEN. When I say broken, I mean broken. Broken in all the wrong ways. More that I care to reveal. God reveals an addict’s brokenness every day he/she lives in addiction. Addiction severs a connection between God and man. God wants us to be connected with him. How can this happen? First, we must be released from our addictive behaviors. Secondly, we must seek God. Sometimes this has to happen down on our knees or lying prostrate on the ground. The ground floor where we have to take the steps……all twelve of them. One step at a time. If a person attempts to climb more than one step at a time, the big fall happens. Taking one step at a time helps those in recovery process the healing process. When it comes to recovery, there is no rush. Here we go…..back to being “broken”. Sometimes, in order to heal properly, we must be broken. It is then that we can be made whole again by God. We will never be the same again. Once you are broken, you will be healed with the tools of God……The Bible, Celebrate Recovery, and the Twelve Steps. Let this month be the beginning of healing from brokenness.
