The Footwork Of Recovery

Doing the footwork in recovery is not an easy task to do. But the results are well worth it. Getting rid of addictive thoughts and behaviors is indeed one of the most hardest things to do. Individuals who are not prone to addiction will never understand what it is like to have the brain chemistry of any addict. The process of recovery is truly a process. You will be taken on a roller coaster ride. One that will be filled with ups and downs. Addiction brings an addict highs and lows. But recovery brings an individual to a calm and centered way of living one day at a time. The focus changes in recovery from blurred vision to a clearer outlook. I recently had a conversation with an individual who has the same dis-ease as me. It was so obvious that they had no idea that these were real signs and real symptoms. This individual was in full blown denial. I fully knew all the signs before me because I have lived it, partaken in it, and drowned in the sweet sorrows of it.  Addiction causes a blockage in the process of rational behavior. Celebrate Recovery or a twelve step program can help those who are addicted to begin the footwork to recovery. This walk may not be easy at first but it isn’t worth the climb to the top……I will see you at the top on your journey towards recovery.
